Introduction by store owner, Nick Freilich:

Heading into the winter holiday season, it is easy to forget our training, often with regret as we hit the early spring with a lack of fitness having spent just a bit too much time on the sofa hiding away. As a solution, I thought it would be a good idea to offer a little seasonal gift to you in the form of a programme to help you through this period so I approached our performance coach Gareth Pymm with some ideas to put together a cycle training plan which can be adapted to help most of us. Don't worry. It is not extreme and we are still allowed to enjoy the holiday celebrations!

This programme will be a great resource to help get you stronger on the bike offering you some focus and direction through the darker months when we can at times really struggle with motivation. You can start the process at any time of the year. Remember, strength on the bike is the best way to make gains in triathlon; the bike leg is normally over 50% of the total time and the better shape you can be in as you roll into T2 will set you up for a faster run.

Remember, this is aimed at cyclists and triathletes, so whether you are training for 70.3 triathlon, gran fondo, gravel race or want to get stronger for rides with your mates, give it a go.

It is highly adaptable so not to worry if you need to be 'flexible' with your session or miss some of them. We are not pro-athletes and have to work around other demands in our often busy lives especially at this tough time of year. Gareth has added some guidance notes to help you through!
