What kind of rider joins Giant Camden's Team Liv?
Our 'kind' is very, very broad and varied!
Beginner or experienced? Non-competitive or competitive? Dedicated cyclists or multi-sport enthusiasts?
There's a place for everyone in Team Liv. We're a women only cycling club affiliated with and supported by the Giant Camden Store in North London. We have a lovely, supportive and encouraging group of girls and more often than not I get asked by new riders 'will I be good enough for the group?' The answer is 'yes!'. Our rides are free from performance pressure and we have great success with nurturing riders and helping conquer their fears of road riding; whether it's a fear of busy city roads, of coming off or simply not managing distance. There is certainly someone in Team Liv who's been there before you.
As well as our beginners, the club is home to accomplished cyclists competing in either cycling only racing events or triathlon and duathlon events. We have Ironman women in training, middle distance down to sprint and super sprint triathletes competing in various events from beginner up to elite standard. We have sportive riders as well as budding time-triallists. No doubt our new members will further broaden our team's diverse repertoire with their preferred events.
Being a shop sponsored team, we have the benefits and knowledge that Nick, Owen and team can offer us on all things cycling; choice of bikes and cycling products, roadside maintenance skills as well as personable service. Store owner, Nick, is adamant that the 'Giant Camden Team Liv Project' is of paramount importance, both personally and to the business and insists that members receive the requisite support deserved.
The Powerfit service has proven to be an asset for custom fitting your bike to your individual proportions, alleviating comfort and efficiency issues resulting from incorrect riding position. This gives the cyclist the best chance of riding to their potential in terms of comfort and efficiency. With the addition of our new ambassador, Sandra Padilla, we now have most bases covered in support of your cycling and multi-sport needs. Sandra has a special interest in social and recreational cycling, including organising a brilliant Ride London training ride schedule to ensure success on the day for those in our team taking part. For me, Team Liv has been everything you can imagine and more. The obvious things are that we have a great group of friendly girls to get to know and spend time with; we are such an interesting group with magnificent stories to share and the coffee breaks or lunches after our rides have been so enjoyable. Then there's the brilliant support I receive from Nick and his team at the shop; everything I could possibly have ever needed to be successful in my sport has been offered to me with encouragement and a smile. The guys really do have a unique, refreshing attitude towards our evolving team. But the most important thing to me about our team are the times when we've helped a woman achieve what she didn't believe she could. This has been worth the most to me, being able to help someone be proud of what they are doing has given me a lift beyond my expectations.

The way 'in' as well as 'onwards and upwards' is via our monthly Liv Ride Out. These are posted as an event on Giant Camden Store's 'Event' page via the website http://www.giant-camden.co.uk/en-gb/.
It's a great way to be introduced to new and existing team members and following on from this ride, you'll be encouraged to join the team and all it has to offer. We communicate our other weekly rides, training sessions and other events via our dedicated What'sApp group as well as our Facebook page. These include;
Tuesday morning hills session 7am - a self-directed session of hill repeats. You can choose how many you do, 4, 6 10 - the choice is yours.
For those wanting to improve their cycling fitness and speed, we have commenced our morning interval training sessions in conjunction with Tri London's weekly cycling session. The 6am Wednesday morning session offers group riding skills at Regent's Park in small lines of about 6 ability-matched riders. The 1 hour workout covers approx 6-7 laps of the park, followed by coffee time in St John's Wood afterwards
Weekly team rides - Sandra has planned a progressive schedule for riders wanting to increase their riding distances in preparation for Ride London. These rides are for Team Liv members, however, you don't need to have an entry in Ride London to join.
Monthly Liv Ride - as mentioned above - a ride for those joining us for the first time. We usually try to tailor the ride to everyone's needs, offering different distances and paces.
We are a member’s club. It will be your club where members are actively encouraged to contribute to the clubs activities for example as a ride leader, event organiser etc.
